When the word "mesh" is used to describe the measurement of woven or welded wire, it indicates the space measured between center-to-center of the wire. When the word "opening" or "aperture" is used to describe the measurement of welded wire mesh, it indicates the space measured between inside-to-inside of the wire.
For example1 . 1/2"mesh equal 2mesh, 1/4"inch equal 4mesh no matter what the wire diameters is.
For example2 . 10mm opening/aperture, if 1mm wires, the mesh per inch=25.4/(10+1)=2.3mesh no. per inch
10mm opening/aperture, if 1.2mm wires, the mesh per inch=25.4/(10+1.2)=2.26mesh no. per inch
Wires weight = wire dia .(mm)× wire dia .(mm) × Length(m) ×0.00617
Weight per m2= wire dia .(mm)× wire dia .(mm) × mesh no. per inch/2
Example 1:
1/2 inch × 1/2 inch × 0.9mm ×40inch× 100 feet
Weight per square meter= (0.9 × 0.9 × 2) / 2 =0.81kg
Weight per roll = (0.9 × 0.9 × 2 × 1.016×30.48) / 2 =25kg
Example 2:
20mm mesh opening × 1.5mm ×48inch× 100 feet
Mmesh no. per inch=25.4/(20+1.5)=1.18mesh no. per inch
Weight per square meter= (1.5× 1.5 × 1.18) / 2 =1.32kg
Weight per roll = (1.5× 1.5 × 1.18 × 1.219×30.48) / 2 =49.3kg
Weight per m2= wire dia .(mm)× wire dia .(mm) × warp mesh no. per inch/4+ wire dia .(mm)× wire dia .(mm) × weft mesh no. per inch/4
Example 1:
1/2 inch × 1inch × 2mm ×40inch× 100 feet
Weight per square meter= (2 × 2 × 2) / 4+ (2 × 2 × 1) / 4=3kg
Weight per roll = 3kg× 1.219×30.48=111.46KG
Example 2:
15×30mm mesh opening × 2mm ×60inch× 150 feet
Weft mesh no. per inch=25.4/(15+2)=1.49mesh no. per inch
Warp mesh no. per inch=25.4/(30+2)=0.79mesh no. per inch
Weight per square meter= (2× 2 × 1.49) / 4+ (2 × 2 × 0.79) / 4=2.28kg
Weight per roll = 2.28kg× 1.524×45.72=158.86KG
Weight per m2= wire dia .(mm)× wire dia .(mm) × wires total meters×0.00617
Example 1 :
50mm×100mm× 5mm×2m×3m
Wires total meters =(2000/50+1) ×3m+( 3000/100+1) ×2m=185m
weight per piece= 5×5×185×0.00617=28.5kg
Example 2 :
100mm×100mm × 5mm ×2m×3m
Wires total meters =(2000/100+1) ×3m+( 3000/100+1) ×2=125m
weight per piece= 5×5×125×0.00617=19.2kg
When using the stainless steel welding mesh weight calculators, the units of wire diameter (must be in mm), roll or panel width (must be in meters), and roll or panel length (must be in meters) must be entered. The weight calculator is a little different for square-hole stainless steel welded wire mesh, rectangle-hole stainless steel welded wire mesh, and stainless steel welded wire mesh panels. If there is any confusion, please check with us. And we have the stainless steel wire mesh weight list for your easy reference.
